Will the Davids Face Off Again in November?

MTV News is reporting that the Davids will release their albums on the same date in November.

I have been unable to confirm this, but Amazon lists Archie’s release date as November 4th. And we know that Cook’s release is expected in November (No date has been set.). So, if Archie’s date is firm, that means either Archie is releasing before Cook or MTV is right.

I certainly hope they are not. Releasing the CDs on the same day would be a total disaster. “Idol” has a real chance to perk up its sales here and a competition would completely blow it.

I’ll keep you posted…

Is Archie looking for the Miley touch?

So while, David Cook is working with a Green Day producer, David Archuleta is going the way of Miley Cyrus…

E! News is reporting that Archie is working on songs with Rock Mafia Records, the duo who have worked with Aly & AJ, Vanessa Hudgens, Mariah Carey and most recently Miley Cyrus on her new hit single, “7 Things.”

According to the E! report, Archie and his father, Jeff, who is also apparently his manager (Uh-oh), recently met with Rock Mafia and decided they should go “in that direction,” hoping for a “Miley touch to the album.”

Lauren Conrad to Design Emmy Awards Dress 2008

Lauren Conrad

The Hills star, Lauren Conrad 22, has landed a gig designing “a couture gown for the women handing out statuettes at the 60th Primetime Emmy Awards.”

I am so excited that the Academy has asked me to design a dress for this year’s Emmy Awards,” LC said in a statement released earlier today. “I will be doing a red carpet look that still reflects the simple classic design of the Lauren Conrad Collection but with a black tie twist.”

Added Executive Producer Ken Ehrlich: "We are very excited to have someone as talented as Lauren Conrad working with us to help make this a very memorable and exciting show."

Conrad recently denied reports that she is not involved in the creation of her clothing line.

Josh Gracin: "It's Like Working the Midnight Shift"

Friday night, Josh Gracin takes the grandstand at the Scioto County Fair.

But today, he took a few minutes to talk to me about Friday’s show and his new single…

“The show is very high energy,” he told me. “I run around all over the stage. We try to give the crowd the best show possible. I’m trying to bring country music to people who normally don’t listen to country. I want the crowd to feel happy, not feel like they went to a turkey show.”

The last time I saw Josh in concert, he performed several covers, but when I asked him if he could reveal what ones we might see Friday night, he just laughed. “I can’t give up all of the surprises,” he told me. He did however admit that the songs can change with each show.

Tonight Josh is in Martinsburg, WV. Tomorrow he’ll be in Wheeling and Wednesday, he’ll be in Point Pleasant, NJ. So what’s the toughest thing about being on the road? “Getting in the swing of things. Just trying to fit into everyone’s schedules. At home I have to fit in with my wife and kids’ schedule and on the road I have to fit into a different schedule. It’s hard when you’re on stage until 11 o’clock at night and you can’t wind down until 1 or 2 in the morning. It’s like working the midnight shift.”

Josh’s home schedule is about to get even busier as he and his wife are expecting their fourth child in the fall—a girl. That will give Josh three girls and one boy, but he’s used to being outnumbered, having grown up with four sisters.

It’s obvious how important Josh’s family is to him as he talks about his new single, “Unbelievable,” which he wrote for his wife of seven years, Ann Marie. “I sat down and wanted to write a song—obviously about my wife—but also a song that people can relate to…Like ‘Brass Bed’ [a top five hit from Josh’s debut album]. Women like it, but guys do too…I wanted to write it from a guy’s perspective so guys could sing it and not feel stupid for liking a love song. I just wrote the things that come to mind when I look at my wife.”

Although Josh has left his days on “American Idol” far behind him, I couldn’t resist asking him just one “Idol”-related question. What is the most popular question you get about “American Idol”?

Without hesitation, Josh answers, “What was Simon really like?” And without me asking, he goes on to tell me that Simon is a normal guy who’s good to talk to.

It seems to me that he’s not the only one…

Josh Gracin will be in concert at the Scioto County Fair Friday, August 8th at 8 p.m. on the grandstand at the Scioto County Fairgrounds in Lucasville. Admission is $7.

POSH & LONGORIA TO OPEN NIGHT SPOT IN LAS VEGAS

Victoria Beckham, eva longoria

Victoria Beckham and Eva Longoria are reportedly set to go into business together.

The “Desperate Housewives” actress and former Spice Girls star are planning to team up to open a incomparable nightspot in Las Vegas.

The venue will include a restaurant, Beso II - the second eatery in Eva’s Beso franchise - and a casino.

The pair’s decision to turn half the business into a casino is said to be due to their interest in dominoes, after Hollywood couple Ashton Kutcher and Demi Moore introduced them to the game.

A source told Britain’s Daily Star newspaper: “Eva and Victoria are obsessed with the game and spend most of their evenings going out for a civilized meal and then getting stuck into a meaty tournament. But they realized there are no venues which provide dinner and focus on this new Hollywood craze.”

“So when Eva said she was opening a new branch of Beso in the gambling capital of the world, Victoria had the brainwave of turning it into a place which specializes in food and their favorite game.”

“Eva will oversee the restaurant, while Victoria channels her energies into the casino.”

Other games reportedly set to be offered in the casino include Mah Jong, Chicken foot and Cut-Throat.

Beso II will serve food by celebrity chef Todd English and specialize in the same Latin infusion made famous by the original restaurant.

Happy 46th Birthday, Jamaica

Jamaica celebrates Independence Day on August 6th each year. Jamaica became an independent nation on August 6, 1962; never to be ruled again by the British or by anyone. We love it that we are now our own boss and run our own show.

From the Jamaica Information Service:

The Jamaican National Flag was first raised on Independence Day, August 6, 1962. It signifies the birth of our nation.

The Flag brings to mind memories of past achievements and gives inspiration towards further success. It is flown on many triumphant occasions, showing the pride that Jamaicans have in their country and in the flag itself.

Make sure you take time to celebrate Jamaica's birthday.
