An "Idol" Emmy Controversy

If “American Idol” takes home the Emmy for Outstanding Reality-Competition Program Sunday night, it won’t be without controversy…

As I told you earlier, “Idol Gives Back” won the Emmy for Outstanding Technical Direction for a Miniseries, Movie or Special. But the Academy allowed “Idol” to submit that same show to be judged in the Reality-Competition Program category and not special. Some critics are already crying foul since “IGB” probably gives “Idol” a good shot of winning Sunday. But their argument is that a show that won an Emmy in the special category should not be eligible to win an Emmy in a regular program category, and I would have to say I agree.

We’ll see what happens on Sunday…
