Cross Cultural Collaborative

Cross Cultural Collaborative, Inc. is a non-profit educational organization that promotes cultural exchange and understanding. Our programs emphasize multigenerational and multicultural collaborations encouraging participants to find rewards in different forms of creativity. We bring artists from different cultures together in a supportive environment where they can get to know each other through the language of art. At the core of our program is the belief that interaction between African and non-African artists enriches the creativity of both groups.

CCC, Inc. invites artists and scholars from all over the world to work with Ghanaians on collaborative projects that range from mosaic walls to documentary films. Most visitors to Ghana have only a superficial connection with the people. We find that by bringing people to live and work at CCC, Inc. we break down stereotypical thinking. Our participants form lasting friendships and come to appreciate not only other cultures, but their own as well.

Visitors have an opportunity to be immersed in a spiritual culture grounded in tradition where art is part of everyday life.

Ananse Village: African Crafts and Textiles

Africa is a continent rich in artistic expression. From the beautiful Ilala palm baskets made by members of the Zulu tribe in South Africa, traditional tonga basket from Zambia, the percussive traditions of the djembe, brekete , ashiko, djun-djun, balaphone, kpanolgo, atsimevu and don-don drums of West Africa, to the magnificent kente cloth, bologanfini (mudcloth), kuba cloth and batik textiles of the continent, the cultural heritage of Africa is expressed.

We are proud to offer the finest traditional African crafts produced in a fair trade environment. By working directly with village artisans we are able to positively affect the economic development in the most needy areas. Ananse Village is dedicated to supporting small scale production by talented craftspeople. A portion of our profits helps provide medical care and educational opportunities to the communities we work with.

We at Culture Den are dedicated to providing quality art and instruments at affordable prices, while bringing opportunity to enhance a better life for African communities.

Through our love and respect of African cultures, we have come to realize how important it is to bring the cultures of Africa and other nations together. Sharing the beauty and ethnicity of hand made products, while building a bridge of unity.

We believe in fair trade for all people. We do our best to make sure that all artists are paid well for their hard work, while providing Thank you! Culture Den

Awareness Publishing

Small Publishing company with good books for children on African crafts.

Their mission:

About us

Awareness Publishing was established in 2001 to focus on publishing educational books for school children. Our focus is on subjects and life skills that are essential for African children, but which are not being produced by any of the international book publishers due to lack of interest, and which are therefore not available for the African market.

Our philosophy is that children need to read books willingly, without having to be persuaded to do so. We believe that books need to be made in such a way that that children will not be able to resist the temptation of picking them up and reading them. We are also convinced that it is more cost-effective and economic to produce long lasting, durable books (that can be read by many readers in succession), than to economize and produce less attractive books that do not last. Accordingly, all our books are made in hard cover, in full colour, and with a Tough-Cover® long lasting library binding.
