Broadway Re-Energizes Fantasia's Career

VH1 had an interesting article online this week about how Broadway has energized Fantasia’s career, when many people thought the move seemed a little desperate…

Keith Murphy, an editor at “Vibe” magazine said, “Fantasia showed that Broadway is not the graveyard for “American Idol.” She blew that notion out of the water, basically. And I’m not a huge Fantasia fan, but I saw something special on that stage.”

The “New York Times” said she was “pretty terrific” and “wholly convincing” in her role as Celie in “The Color Purple.” And the “New York Daily News” reports that a new show based on Ada “Bricktop” Smith is being written for Fantasia to star in.

Plus, as I’ve reported in other posts, her single, “When I See U” is starting to take off.

Murphy said Fantasia’s success will only continue. “I think she could become a bulletproof artist without her album necessarily having to go triple platinum or even platinum. You’re looking at an artist who now has the capability of growing old with her fans.”
