Fantasia Sits Down With Oprah

In the September issue of “O, The Oprah Magazine,” Oprah interviews Fantasia, who is, of course, the star of Oprah’s Broadway play, “The Color Purple.”

In the article, Fantasia talks about her life as a single mom on welfare. “I’ll be honest: Those checks just weren’t enough, and I had to steal what I needed—diapers, milk, food.”

About her success, Fantasia tells Oprah, “It’s not about the fame; it’s about people being touched…You can’t tell me that dreams don’t come true. My life is proof that they do.”

The issue hits stands this Tuesday…
