As I told you a few weeks ago, Jordin Sparks signed with Jive Records. But why Jive, and not J, RCA or Arista like previous winners and runners-up?Reports are that since Clive Davis will be busy this fall with albums from Jennifer Hudson and Carrie Underwood, the decision was made that Jive would be the best home for Jordin. Jive is home to Justin Timberlake, Usher, Ciara and Britney Spears and is looking at a lighter release schedule this fall since Usher’s next album won’t be out until 2008 (and who knows about Britney).
And here I was hoping that Simon Fuller had finally figured out that maybe Clive doesn’t have as golden of an ear as everyone thinks…
