Ace Gets Ready to Play His Hand

It seems like the only Season 5 contestant we haven’t heard from lately is Ace Young.

But in actuality, there’s a good chance you’re hearing Ace’s work on the radio right now…

Ace co-wrote the chorus of the Daughtry hit, “It’s Not Over” (He’s credited as Brett Young in the liner notes.).

The success of “Over” is now allowing Ace to work with some of the biggest songwriters in the business, including “Idol” vets Diane Warren and Desmond Child. Ace plans to co-write all of the songs for his album, which he says he doesn’t want a label touching until it’s ready.

Ace released his single, “Scattered,” last year to see what he could do without a label. “Scattered” did crack the top 50 on the Hot AC Chart (You can listen to it at http://www.myspace.com/aceyoung.).

Ace has formed a band with former members of Dishwalla, former members of Jewel’s band, and former members of Don Henley’s band. They’ll play scattered dates across the country.

Those of us hoping for an Ace-Chris reunion may get our wish as they’re planning to record a duet for charity when schedules allow. Ace says “We’re best friends forever.” Ace has already raised $80,000 for a Denver children’s hospital with help from his fan club…
