You guys know I HATE these hour-long results shows.
But it will be interesting to see how Ryan fills the time since he’s picking the three best instead of telling 10 they’re safe.
In the old days, they just sat in the Coke Red Room and Ryan dramatically announced one person at a time, filling the moments in between each announcement with interviews and show clips.
But those were the half-hour days. An hour is going to take something much more dramatic.
And can we really name the Top 12 without those urinal chairs?...
So besides the announcement of the three moving on, what can we expect to fill the hour tonight?
There has been no official word from FOX, but EW.com has reported that Michael Johns and Carly Smithson will do a duet. That probably also means a nice video package showing the two helping out during Hollywood Week since that got cut from the Hollywood shows.
And since the Idol Experience officially opened at Walt Disney World last week, I feel quite certain that we’ll see footage of that with some kind of “in-depth look” at the whole thing.
I’m sure Ford will do something, whether it’s a full-blown commercial or not, and we’ll have a recap of all of last night’s action.
And sadly, we will probably also have a group number, just because there will be plenty of time for one and there’s nothing else to do.
Plus at some point, Ryan will need to announce the contestants that will make up Group #2. AND if he’s smart, he will also announce several times that next week’s shows are on Wednesday and Thursday due to the President’s speech.
So what will fill up the remaining minutes? I haven’t a clue. I just hope that all of last night’s technical glitches have been fixed or it could be a VERY long night.
Of course, it’s going to be one for me anyway, because—as usual—I am blogging the results show as it happens AND it’s “Lost” night AND “Top Chef” is eliminating two contestants before the finale…
Phew! But you know I love every minute of it…
I’ll see you guys tonight…
