Is Paula Going to Perform on the Finale?

Warning: If you do not want to know anything about Wednesday’s finale, stop reading now…

Is Paula going to perform on the finale?

According to reports, yes she is…

WOO-HOO!

Yahoo reports that Paula will debut a song from her upcoming album and the top 12 will perform with her for a group number (Does that mean David A. will play MC Scat Cat?). I feel quite certain these performances will be taped, but it doesn’t matter. It’s great that “Idol” is showing Paula some love…

So who else can we expect on the finale?

Carrie Underwood will perform “Last Name,” according to her MySpace page. In fact, two Idols from each of the previous six seasons will come back for a group number, according to Yahoo. Which two from which seasons? I can’t tell you because only Bo Bice is confirmed. I think this would be a good time to bring in Clay, don’t you? Actually, I think Clay should get to sing his own song, but I digress…

Dancers from “So You Think You Can Dance” will return. Big shocker there since the show premieres the next night…

Nigel told Ryan on his radio show that there will be another performance by Elvis with several people this time. Yes, we know that “Idol” and Elvis are owned by the same company, but come on…

Robert Downey Jr. will make an appearance, as will the “biggest star in the world,” according to Nigel. I have no idea who he’s talking about here. Anyone else like to see Michael Jackson duet with David C. on “Billie Jean”?...

Nigel also told Ryan that the top five will sing duets with “somebody.” FOX News reported that “each of the Idols” will be singing with the celebrity mentors from the season. But since there were only four, who’s the fifth? MJ’s Big Blog is speculating the fifth is the “biggest star” Nigel was talking about and that “Idol” has finally landed Paul McCartney. Or maybe FOX News and Nigel are talking about two totally different things…

The Jonas Brothers (Is anyone else totally over them?) will be performing, according to FOX News and the “Daily Press” is reporting that One Republic canceled a gig to be available for the finale. Remember when the finale was actually about the Idols?...

Speaking of One Republic, Digital Spy is reporting that David and David will duet with “Apologize,” but would they really do that with One Republic there? And if they do, does that mean we’ll hear two One Republic songs? Is that some kind of payback for lead singer Ryan Tedder co-writing “Bleeding Love”?

I’ll have more as the details come in…
