Has Lyric Street's Luck Run Out?

I was afraid of this one…

An article on CMT.com reports that Phil Stacey has sold just over 25,000 copies of his album in its first month.

Josh Gracin has sold only 45,000 in two months.

And Bucky Covington, who started out like gangbusters, has only sold 345,000.

You know that I think all three albums are solid, but I was concerned that Phil might be received as more of the same. Plus, I have to wonder if Phil’s image just doesn’t work. That somewhat ghoulish album cover doesn’t really help that much…

And clearly the problem with Josh Gracin is that there was just too much of a break between CDs. He had lots of momentum after “Nothing to Lose” hit #1, but the break gave people time to forget about him…

As for Bucky, I think he could just be a victim of more of the same as well. Plus, I don’t think he’s really had the best single selection.

Now all of this could be turned around—especially if they would release Josh’s “Found,” but I fear that Lyric Street has signed its last male “Idol” contestant…
