Cook Sets Chart Records and Hits #1

David Cook sets a record for debut entries on this week’s Billboard Hot 100 chart with 11 songs.

Cook has 14 songs on the Hot Digital Songs chart, including the #1 track, “The Time of My Life,” which sold a whopping 236,000 downloads.

‘Time” debuts at a strong #3 on the Billboard Hot 100.

The previous record for most debut entries on the Hot 100 was six set by Miley Cyrus as Hannah Montana. He also breaks Miley’s record of eight on the Digital Songs Chart.

It’s also the most tracks on the Hot 100 chart since the Beatles had 14 songs in one week.

David Archuleta has three songs on both charts, including “Imagine,” which sold 71,000 downloads.

This is the first week that “Idol” downloads have counted toward the charts since the producers and iTunes agreed not to share the numbers over concern it would affect the voting.
